PRINCIPAL VIOLA (2nd chair)

The audition will be held at Turku Concert Hall on Monday 27th of May, 2024 starting at 13:00 (1 pm).

- F. A. Hoffmeister or A. Stamitz: Concerto for Viola and Orchestra, 1st mvt with the cadenza
- B. Bartók, P. Hindemith or W. Walton: Viola Concerto, 1st mvt
- Orchestral excerpts: 
• G. Mahler: Symphony No. 10 F-sharp major, 1st mvt
• W. A. Mozart: Symphony No. 35 D major KV 385 4th mvt
• G. Puccini: Manon Lescaut, Act 3, Intermezzo
• M. Ravel: Ma mère l’oye, 5th mvt
• A. Schönberg: Verklärte Nacht Op. 4
• J. Sibelius: Symphony No. 3 C major Op. 52, 1st mvt
• J. Sibelius: Symphony No. 4 A minor Op. 63, 4th mvt
• R. Strauss: Don Juan Op. 20
• P. Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 B minor Op. 74, 1st mvt

- Chamber music excerpt:
• J. Brahms: String Quintet No. 2 Op. 111, 1st mvt

Orchestral and chamber music excerpts will be sent to selected candidates by email after the closing date.

The audition may also include an interview (in Finnish or in English)

The closing date for the applications is Thursday 25th of April 2024 at midnight, 24:00 PM (GMT+2 Finnish time). For applying, please fill the online application form available on Musicalchairs.

Invitations to attend the audition will be sent to selected candidates by email after the closing date. Delayed applications or applications submitted by e-mail will not be taken into consideration.

If a member of the orchestra will be chosen to the vacancy of Principal Viola, his/her vacancy can be filled by this audition.
